A man was arrested in Karad, Satara district, on Sunday for engaging in “public misconduct” in Pune’s Yerwada area a day earlier. Gaurav Ahuja, the driver of a luxury BMW, was reportedly intoxicated when he urinated on a public road, an act captured on video by a passerby. The video went viral, sparking outrage among locals.
According to the Pune City Police, Ahuja and another individual were seen stopping their vehicle at a junction in Yerwada on Saturday morning before committing the act. When confronted by the passerby, Ahuja allegedly responded with inappropriate behavior.
The police have registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Maharashtra Police Act, and Ahuja will be presented in court later today. Authorities are still searching for the second individual involved. Investigations are ongoing.
